Punjabi translation

Punjabi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by Punjabi people and native to the Punjab region of Pakistan and India.

The language has approximately 113 million speakers.

Five interesting facts about the Punjabi language:

1. Punjabi is one of the few languages to have a lexical tone, whereby slight differences in tone affect the meaning of words.

2. Unlike many other languages, Punjabi has two different scripts – Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi.

3. The Punjabi language developed in the region in the 12th century.

4. Punjabi is the 10th most spoken language in the world.

5. Punjabi relies heavily on Persian and Arabic words, with many words from these languages having been incorporated into Punjabi.
