Urdu translation

Urdu is the official language of Pakistan and is also spoken in parts of India and many parts of South Asia.

Five interesting facts about the Urdu language:

1. There are a few English words that came from Urdu, including ‘pyjamas’, ‘typhoon’, and ‘khaki’

2. Urdu and Hindi are almost identical on a conversational level. The main difference is in how they are written.

3. Unlike English, Urdu is written in the Persian-Arabic script which is written from right to left.

4. Urdu is an elegant language which lends itself to poetry, making it popular in schools, courts, and among scholars because of its grace and class

5. Urdu dates back to the 12th century, and was heavily influenced by Arabic and Persian.
